Instructions
  1. Place rinsed and cleaned beans in the crock of a 6 quart slow cooker.
  2. Add remaining ingredients. Set slow cooker to low for about 8 hours or until beans are tender.
  3. Remove the onion and whole jalapeno with a slotted spoon.
  4. Serve either whole, with bean juice or scoop the beans out and mash the beans with a little bean juice. Add bean juice to get the desired consistency.
  5. For creamier beans mash with a little milk and top with cheese.
Recipe Notes

Beans can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 - 5 days or frozen for future use.

Peruvian beans may be used in place of pinto beans.
